Step Quest is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal data, store everything locally on your device, and never share your information with third parties.
Data We Access
Step Quest accesses the following data solely to provide its core functionality:
- Step Count Data: We read your daily step count from your device's pedometer or Health Connect to track your walking progress and calculate XP.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Location or GPS data
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Health data beyond step counts
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or tracking data
Data Storage
All your game data (level, XP, achievements, streaks) is stored locally on your device using secure local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any servers.
Third-Party Services
Firebase Crashlytics: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports when the app encounters an error. This helps us identify and fix bugs. Crashlytics collects:
- Device model and operating system version
- App version and crash timestamps
- Stack traces (technical error information)
- Anonymous installation identifiers
Crashlytics does not collect personal information, location data, or any health/step data. You can learn more about Firebase's data practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Google Play: If you use the optional tip jar feature, payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store any payment information.
Health Connect Integration
When you grant Health Connect permissions, Step Quest reads only your step count data. We do not access any other health metrics. You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device's Health Connect settings.
Children's Privacy
Step Quest does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is suitable for users of all ages.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all Step Quest data by:
- Using the "Reset Game Data" option in the app's settings
- Clearing the app's data through your device settings
- Uninstalling the app
